The Variety review referred to ‘an anaemic grab-bag of Sundance cliches’ and ‘painful quirkiness’ – I’ll not argue.
New York-based writer Christopher Rocket is a man devoted to his work but unable to commit to his girlfriend or anything else in his personal life. He returns to Florida after his estranged father Tom Rocket suffers a stroke. Flashbacks trace his problems back to his dysfunctional childhood – a withholding father, a wacky mother, and their inevitable divorce. In the present day his mother Jane (Sharon Stone) has become a haggard-looking video-blogger with orange hair. Christine Jacobson (Illeana Douglas) appears from time-to-time apparently to prove that some people somewhere might be emotionally well-adjusted.
Tina Roesler Kerwin was the makeup department head; Ann-Maree Hurley was the key makeup artist; Tricia Sawyer was personal makeup artist for Sharon Stone.
