Character makeups: Tittybangbang

The BBC sketch show Tittybangbang featured Lucy Montgomery and Debbie Chazen playing a ‘bizarre, manic and outrageous collection’ of characters – not all of them female – including an exhibitionist Italian cleaning lady; Maxine Bendix, an Eastern-European topless model who has had a little too much cosmetic surgery; a strange women’s darts team; balding, frustrated bachelor Don Peacock; the aggressive Mrs Baxter; a singing teacher; Tressemme Godsend; salesman Pete Wade; Tom Cruise …

Lucy Montgomery said: ‘I love massive, over-the-top characters. I don’t need any excuse to play them. I love showing off; I’m like a five-year-old girl at a party.’

The characters and the makeup were brilliant but the sketches often failed to spark; nevertheless, the show ran for three seasons and a Christmas special. Unfortunately, the final season has never been released on DVD.

Vanessa White, Diane Chenery-Wickens & Siobhan Harper Ryan were makeup designers on various episodes; Neill Gorton’s MillenniumFX were responsible for the prosthetics.
