Star Trek – old-age makeups

Between unnaturally rapid ageing and time distortions, a prosthetic old-age makeup is a bit of an occupational hazard for members of the crew. Then, of course, there are all the other transformations: surgical disguises and genetic modifications; rapid devolution; and integration into an alien races.

So many makeup artists have worked on the Star Trek franchise over nearly thirty years that it would probably be impossible to list them all. John Chambers was responsible for the makeup for the original series and Michael Westmore has been makeup designer for all the other TV series as well as for Generations, Insurrection, and Nemesis. Other makeup artists have included Brian Wade, Ve Neill, Rick Stratton, Allan A Apone, Michael Mills, Kenny Myers, Ed French, Greg Cannom, Michael Key (of Makeup Artist Magazine), Gil Mosko, Ellis Burman Jr, Bart Mixon, and Michael Burnett.
