In the 1930s and 1940s a group of vigilantes called themselves the Minutemen and set out to ‘finish what the law couldn’t’. They started out as heros helping to catch criminals and to win World War II. Decades later, in the 1980s, the world hovers on the brink of nuclear war and there is a new generation of Watchmen but the glory days are over, the government has cracked down on their activities, and there is a conspiracy to kill and discredit them.
