Sophia Loren (born 1934) is an Academy Award-winning actress and is probably the most famous Italian actress internationally. She began her career as an extra and bit-part actress in minor Italian films in the early 1950s then she was discovered by Carlo Ponti, who she later married, and the rest is history. During the 1960s Loren was one of the most popular actresses in the world, starring in such movies as: The Millionairess; Two Women; El Cid; The Fall of the Roman Empire; Marriage Italian-Style; Operation Crossbow; Lady L; Judith; and Arabesque. She recently became the oldest woman to pose for the Pirelli calendar. Inevitably there has been a biopic but it will not be featured here – she played herself.
The Life And Death Of Peter Sellers: Peter Sellers apparently lusted after his co-star (Sonia Aquino) during the making of The Millionairess but had to settle for her stand-in (at least according to this movie). Veronica Brebner was chief makeup and hair designer.
Kevyn Aucoin photoshoot: Gina Gershon got to look like Sophia with a lot of help from the late Kevyn Aucoin.
