period: The Sea Hawk

The Sea Hawk

Errol Flynn makes for an unlikely privateer – but possibly not as unlikely as his Earl of Essex of the previous year – defending his nation’s interests on the eve of the Spanish Armada, falling in love with the daughter of the Spanish Ambassador, and trying to stay on the right side of Queen Elizabeth (Flora Robson).

Flora Robson played a wide variety of character parts in a fifty year career in the movies and had already portrayed Queen Elizabeth in Fire Over England: some of her many looks are displayed in the chameleons section.
