A drama based on the life of Jesse James Hollywood, a drug dealer who became one of the youngest men ever to be on the FBI’s most wanted list.
Events spiral out of control when Hollywood threatens Jake Mazursky, an explosive head-case who owes him money; Jake responds by breaking into the dealer’s house; in revenge, Jake’s little brother is kidnapped and killed. Olivia Mazursky (Sharon Stone) puts on weight as she fails to cope with the tragedy.
Nick Cassavetes apparently wanted to capture the real-life weight problems Susan Mark Markowitz suffered as she attempted to cope with the death of her son at the hands of Jesse James. He said:
The woman gained a bunch of weight … She had an extremely tough time with the events that happened, a really difficult time.
Whatever, the intention, Sharon’s performance achieved real bathos. And I can see that he was attempting a documentary-feel to her final interview but I found the sudden drop in image quality really irritating – and I really don’t understand why the home-movie image quality was retained in the shots which showed the camera which was supposedly filming the interview!
Eryn Krueger was the makeup department head; Gracie Atherton was the personal makeup artist for Sharon Stone; Stephanie A Fowler was the key makeup artist.
Tom Woodruff Jr & Alec Gillis of Amalgamated Dynamics were the special makeup designers.
