A parody of the mismatched pair of detective movies with pretensions at social commentary, Beur sur la ville begins with the murder of a young woman near the mosque of a banlieue on a Friday: the third murder of a serial killer who cuts off the heads of his victims, always near the mosque.
Police are embarrassed by the case and setup a special team to investigate including the incompetent Khalid Belkacem and the driven Commissioner Diane.
The surreal and grotesque investigations take place in a suburb abandoned to decay and violence. Among the characters the team encounter is the bag-lady Mamie Nova (Josiane Balasko) who has her own dark secrets.
