In this comic-book adaptation set in 1911 intrepid authoress Adèle Blanc-Sec (Louise Bourgoin) braves ancient Egyptian tombs and modern Egyptian lowlife to locate the mummy of Ramses II’s physician and get him back to Paris. Her hope is that the mad scientist Professor Espérandieu will then use his unusual powers to bring the doctor back to life so that he, in turn, can use his skills to cure Adèle’s sister, who is in a near catatonic as the result of a freak accident involving a hairpin.
Back in Paris, however, she discovers that Espérandieu is in prison, having caused mayhem by bringing a museum egg: a pterodactyl is now terrorising Paris.
Undeterred, Adèle adopts a variety of disguises, including the two male disguises – a lawyer & a prison guard – seen here and a fat serving woman, while trying to get him out of prison. Each time she is uncovered and unceremoniously thrown out.
