illness: Die Wolke

This movie is about the effects of a serious accident at a nuclear power station in Germany. It focuses on the story of two teenager-lovers Hannah (Paula Kalenberg) and Elmar: Hannah unfortunately becomes contaminated.

Paula Kalenberg agreed to have her head shaved for this role:

Das stand von vornherein fest. Ich habe das Drehbuch gelesen und wusste, dass die Haare fallen müssen. Ich bin auch gar nicht auf die Idee gekommen, irgendwas mit einer künstlichen Glatze zu probieren … Jetzt ich freue mich darauf, die Haare wieder wachsen zu lassen. [It was clear from the beginning. I read the script and knew that my hair must go. I did not consider trying a bald-cap … Now I am looking forward to letting my hair grow again.]
