skinheads & punks: Tank Girl

Tank Girl is a much under-rated comic-book adaptation. Tank Girl (Lori Petty) kicks butt with some help from Jet Girl (an early appearance by an unusually-brunette Naomi Watts) and some mutant kangeroos.

Lori Petty found her true calling and some weird hairstyles as Tank Girl: we should all be grateful that Emily Lloyd balked at the haircut at the last moment. As to those Spice Girls who were variously reported to have been auditioned or considered for the role: ‘Posh Spice kicks butt’ – just don’t go there.

Deborah Larsen was key makeup artist and Cheri Montesanto-Medcalf was makeup artist. A host of other talented artists also worked on the movie, notably the rippers were designed at the Stan Winston Studio (now Legacy Effects) and Lance Anderson was responsible for additional makeup effects.
