racechange: various Middle-Eastern characters

The Desert Song (1929): General Birabeau is sent to Morocco to root out and destroy the rebellious Riff tribesmen whose daredevil leader, the Red Shadow, is a mysterious Frenchman who turns out to be the general’s son; it’s a boringly repetitive – not mention insultingly racist – movie trope that the only effective native leaders are white. Myrna Loy in yet another early ‘exotic’ role plays Azuri, a sinuous and secretive native dancing girl. I have no makeup credits.
